3 Interesting and Fun August Holidays

Check out these 3 Interesting and Fun August Holidays.

National Girlfriend Day

Celebrated on the 1st of August, National Girlfriends Day is a holiday on which guys take the time to show their girlfriends how important they are to them and is also a holiday celebrated by women to commemorate their female friends. While it’s not an “official” holiday – and as such government building and businesses aren’t closed – it is one that is being celebrated by an increasing number of people all over the United States. You can never go wrong with the Deep Love Box for this holiday.

No one really knows who started this holiday. It was probably started by a greeting card company in order to sell more cards. However, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t a day taken seriously by people. In fact, the popularity of this holiday seems to increase each and every year.

Men and women can celebrate this holiday in different ways. Men can treat it in much the same way as they treat Valentine’s Day and take their significant others out to dinner or buy them a gift. Perhaps a nice piece of jewelry or some flowers. Women can hang out with their girlfriends and use the day to spend quality time together or shop. It doesn’t matter how you celebrate the day, only that you show the woman friend in your life how important they are to you.

Happiness Happens Day

Smile on August 8th to share in National Happiness Happens Day. On this day each year just let it happen. You know.  Happiness.  Because happiness happens.

The day encourages happiness all day.  Recognize every moment of glee, joy, delight, and pleasure. Don’t let it pass. Most importantly, a flicker of a giggle should be given its due and should it blossom into full-blown happiness, don’t be surprised.  It happens!

Another element of the day prohibits the squashing of other people’s happiness. From time to time, we might find others happiness might seem irritating. Those moments happen when we have particularly rotten days. However, our bad days don’t give us the right to squash another person’s joy. Instead, allow their delight in the day to infect us. Perhaps, their ability to smile will blow the storm clouds away from your day.

Kiss and Make Up Day

I can’t think of a more positive way to spend a day than to purposefully let go of grudges, large and small. After all, your entire being is made up of energy, and in order to maintain a healthy mind, body, and spirit, you have to allow that energy to flow freely. When you refuse to forgive, the resentment and anger you hold onto acts as toxic sludge, blocking the flow and slowing down the movement of energy, and preventing you from manifesting love, happiness, and success!

Each and every one of us has had a fight with someone at some point in our lives. Whether it is between you and a friend, family member, neighbor or co-worker, after time has passed you might not even remember the cause. Do you want the hurt feelings and resentment to go on any longer? Choosing forgiveness is a beautiful gift to give yourself and the world – as well as the person you’re forgiving. So, on August 25th, I challenge you to think of someone you’d like to “kiss and make us with!”

Making up doesn’t have to include long apologies or justifications on either side. That can make things worse and reopen old wounds. Just reaching out in a loving way can be enough. You might even find that the other person has been thinking of you, missing your company and wanting to make amends.
